The Career:

The career after DTM: heading for new adventures

For 16 years, Martin Tomczyk was driving in the DTM for the German premium automobile manufacturers Audi and BMW and in 2011 became DTM Champion - up until now, as the only driver of a year-old car in the history of DTM.

However, his self-determined withdrawal from the DTM, the worldwide leading touring car racing series, does not demonstrate a retreat from the active racing world but rather for a departure for new challenges. BMW is currently expanding its worldwide motorsport engagement and has also signed Martin for the planned motorsport programs.

Over the last few years, endurance racing has received increasing interest from manufacturers, partners and motorsport fans. The most famous race in the world, the 24h race of LeMans, is a great opportunity to compete with the best racing drivers and to achieve an impressive media presence.

As BMW is taking part in the FIA World Endurance Championship from 2018, Martin is now taking up the challenge to shape his entire racing engagement and vehicle according to his own ideas. At the same time, he will complete the entire IMSA Weatherteck Sportscar Series in the BMW M6 GTLM in 2017.

In his new position, he will simultaneously advance the development, testing and production of the brand-new BMW racing car together with the development department and the engineers. At the end of this development program, there will be only one goal: victory at the 24h race of LeMans and the FIA World Championship title for BMW Motorsport!
